E’ davvero un manuale per appassionati l’ultimo lavoro di Amy Bracey sul mondo conosciuto e sconosciuto delle carrozze del 18° e 19° secolo.
Un libro elegante nella veste e non solo.
Ricco di informazioni di dettaglio, soprattutto su modelli poco conosciuti al pur minor pubblico degli appassionati di carrozze antiche, il libro è frutto di piu’ di dieci anni di ricerche presso biblioteche e archivi museali e interviste a personalità inglesi della cultura degli attacchi.
Proprio per contribuire a preservare questa parte di storia e per diffonderne la conoscenza, il libro è stato stampato dalla Carriage Foundation UK, alla quale andranno i proventi che saranno destinati a realizzare gli scopi sociali dell’Associazione che, senza scopo di lucro, favorisce la salvaguardia e la diffusione della cultura della carrozza antica.
Amy Bracey, l’autrice inglese, si è dedicata all’arte delle redini lunghe da piu’ di 30 anni ed ha unito alla passione per la guida quella per l’arte, conseguendo un diploma in Storia dell’Arte e gestione del Patrimonio Artistico e lavorando in un museo.
Il necessario binomio, guida della carrozza e studio della storia, dell’arte e della cultura del periodo, ha rivelato i suoi frutti piu’ maturi in questo testo che è il risultato di anni di approfondimenti sul campo di gara di Windsor e tra gli archivi presso la Carriage Foundation, il cui riconoscimento è espresso dalle parole del Principe Michael di Kent, Presidente della Carriage Foundation stessa, usate nella prefazione.
Il libro vuole raggiungere lo scopo di far conoscere le caratteristiche e la storia di tutti quei modelli di carrozze “dimenticate” affinchè non si perda la memoria di circa 400 tipi, in uso nei due ultimi secoli, tra i quali vengono menzionati comunemente solo alcuni, come lo Spider, la Victoria, il Gig ecc.
Schede per ogni tipo di carrozza, suddivise per tipo di attività svolta, ordinate per lettera alfabetica, costituiscono un insostituibile supporto per giudici di gare di tradizione, drivers, restauratori, o semplicemente appassionati ad un mondo non così distante nel tempo che nell’attualità viene continuamente riscoperto ed amato perchè la Bellezza e l’Arte contribuiscono al Benessere e alla Salute dell’Umanità e sono terapeutiche per ogni tipo di male dell’anima e del corpo.
In tempo di covid, la presentazione e il lancio del libro è stato effettuato solo online, tuttavia con ottimi risultati in termini di diffusione e comunicazione nonché di vendita del testo.

Amy Bracey's latest work on the known and unknown world of 18th and 19th century carriages is truly a manual for enthusiasts.
An elegant book in its guise and more.
Rich in detailed information, especially on models less known to the lesser public of antique carriage enthusiasts, the book is the result of more than ten years of research in libraries and museum archives and interviews with British personalities of the culture of driving.
In order to preserve this part of history and to spread knowledge, the book was printed by the Carriage Foundation UK, the owner of the proceeds that will be used to achieve the social purposes of the non-profit Association which promotes the safeguard and the spread of the culture of the ancient carriage.
Amy Bracey, the English author, has dedicated herself to the art of driving for more than 30 years and has combined her passion for driving with that for art, obtaining a diploma in Art History and Heritage Management and working in a museum.
The necessary combination, driving the carriage and studing the history, art and culture of the period, has revealed its most mature fruits in this text which is the result of years of in-depth analysis on the Windsor competition field and among the archives. For her work at the Carriage Foundation, whose recognition is expressed in the words of Prince Michael of Kent, Patron of the Carriage Foundation itself, used in the preface.
The book aims to achieve the purpose of making known the characteristics and history of all those models of "forgotten" carriages, so as not to lose the memory of about 400 types, in use in the last two centuries, among which only a few are commonly mentioned, like Spider, Victoria, gig etc.
Cards for each type of carriage, divided by type of activity carried out, sorted by alphabetical letter, constitute an irreplaceable support for traditional race judges, drivers, restorers, or simply fans of a world not so distant in time, now continuously rediscovered and loved because Beauty and Art contribute to the Wellness and Health of Humanity and are therapeutic for all kinds of harm to the Soul and Body.
At the time of covid, the presentation of the book was carried out only online, however reached excellent results in terms of dissemination and communication as well as in terms of selling the book.
