Carrozza per bambini trovata nel deposito del castello di De Haar

Questa carrozza era nascosta tra pietre, tegole in ardesia, frammenti interi e mezzi di edifici nel deposito di Kasteel de Haar. Nessuno vi aveva prestato attenzione forse per un centinaio di anni, finché Claas Conijn, capo progetto della Hippomobile Heritage Foundation, non la vide. E ha agito. La squadra di restauro di Stolk avrà tempo quest'inverno per restaurare il piccolo phaeton.
“Una caratteristica speciale del landau che è stato ora restaurato per Kasteel de Haar è l'intreccio di canne, afferma entusiasta il responsabile del progetto, “Il canneto è stato diviso, intrecciato e applicato manualmente. Realizzato in vero vimini. È meraviglioso vedere questa carrozza per bambini, perché ha canne dipinte su tela. Il restauro ci permette di condurre ricerche sulle tecniche utilizzate. Cosa ha richiesto più lavoro, cosa è stato più costoso, come è stato realizzato e perché la scelta del carraio è arrivata in quel momento? In questo modo manteniamo la conoscenza di quelle antiche tecniche e della professione del restauratore.” Conijn deve ancora rispondere alla domanda chiave se davanti al carro camminasse una capra, un asino o un piccolo pony. Per trovare la risposta, il team di progetto può scavare negli archivi della casa alla ricerca di vecchie foto. È certo che i bambini di Kasteel de Haar si sono divertiti, visti i segni di utilizzo. "La carrozza è in condizioni terribili e dobbiamo fare qualcosa per evitare che venga completamente distrutta."
Kasteel de Haar ha assegnato l'incarico a Stolk questa settimana, grazie al contributo finanziario dell'organizzazione no-profit Padre David. Dopo il restauro la carrozza può essere vista nelle scuderie del castello di Utrecht.
CARRIAGE FOR CHILDREN FOUNDED IN DE HAAR CASTLE DEPOSIT
This carriage was hidden among stones, slate tiles, whole and half fragments of buildings in the Kasteel de Haar depot. No one had paid attention to it for perhaps a hundred years, until Claas Conijn, project leader of the Hippomobile Heritage Foundation, saw it. And he acted. Stolk's restoration team will have time this winter to restore the little phaeton.
“A special feature of the landau that has now been restored for Kasteel de Haar is the reed weaving, says the project manager enthusiastically, “The reed was divided, braided and applied manually. Made from real wicker. It is wonderful to see this children's carriage, because it has canes painted on canvas. The restoration allows us to conduct research on the techniques used. What took the most work, what was most expensive, how was it accomplished, and why did the wheelwright choice come about at that time? In this way we maintain knowledge of those ancient techniques and of the restorer's profession.” Conijn has yet to answer the key question of whether a goat, a donkey or a small pony was walking in front of the cart. To find the answer, the project team can dig through the house's archives for old photos. It is certain that the children of Kasteel de Haar had fun, given the signs of use. “The carriage is in terrible condition and we must do something to prevent it from being completely destroyed.”
Kasteel de Haar awarded the task to Stolk this week, thanks to the financial contribution of the non-profit organization Father David. After the restoration the carriage can be seen in the stables of Utrecht Castle.
